Lawrette "Lawrie" See was born and raised in northern Johnson County Iowa and is a graduate of Solon High School. Her interest in jewelry fabrication began in Junior High. Her early designs were created using fishing spoons. Later she adopted various weaving techniques and used seed beads to create intricate patterns.

Today she enjoys making her own lampwork glass beads using glass from China, the Czech Republic, Germany, and Italy. To assemble her pieces she uses custom fired silver clay pieces as well as sterling silver and copper wire. Lawrie also sandblasts her beads adding further dimension to her style.
